Prince Edward County’s Ella Kennedy, from Hillier, was awarded the BMO Financial Group CanSkater of the Year for all of Eastern Ontario at the Skate Canada Eastern Ontario section awards luncheon, held at Holiday Inn Waterfront in Kingston.
Part of the BMO Financial Group CanSkate Champions Medal Program, the award recognizes skaters ages eight and below for demonstrating the “spirit of a champion,” talent and skill, passion for skating, personal accomplishments and physical fitness on and off the ice.
“Ella Kennedy is one of those little girls that you can’t get enough of,” said Susan Allison, President of the Prince Edward County Skating Club. “While on the ice, Ella works hard, often trying to help the other skaters and she has enthusiastically represented our club at competitions and also at fundraising events.”
“I truly believe that Ella has the talent and ability to succeed in figure skating and any task that she tackles because of her dedication and determination,” said Ella’s coach, Lisa Conley.
Ella’s mom, Leslie, was a competitive singles skater as well.
Besides skating, Ella’s interests include public speaking, acting in school and Sunday school, soccer, dance, and running with her mom.
