Emergency water main repairs on Bridge Street
Administrator | Feb 05, 2016 | Comments 6
Expect delays on Bridge Street in Picton as the Water and Wastewater Department conducts emergency repairs as a result of a water main break between Phillip Street and Laird Lane in Picton.
Repairs began at approximately 11am Friday, with an expected completion time of 6pm. Bridge Street remains open with intermittent lane closures between Phillip Street and Laird Lane. Delays on route to the Glenora Ferry loading dock can be expected. Motorists are asked to avoid the construction area if possible.
Repairs are not expected to impact water quality, however residents in the area may experience intermittent pressure fluctuations or coloured water while repairs are under way.
To address any pressure loss and the potential of coloured water, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter once maintenance is complete and regular water service is restored.

Keep in mind that you can only save so much by reducing consumption of water or electricity, because a significant share of the monthly bill in each case is a fixed charge.
What has been happening is that people are cutting back, but in the absence of reducing costs, the variable rate component has to be increased so that the same total amount is received.
One “advantage” of having a fixed charge is that people who don’t occupy their homes full-time pay the fixed charge when away.
🙂 my hydro is not low..its my water thats HIGH. .
thank you. ah huh! that new Taj Mahal..($$$)
hmm ok its not quite twice my hydro. but its definately MORE
belleville rates ..79.00 every two months base rate. apparently.

hot water tanks is alot …..so quicker showers. and fewer laundry loads. 🙂
i think ill look for a rain barrel this year. Look at australia , most people have one.
A 12 member committee to review the the water issues and they place 9 insiders who either created the issues or inherited them and they attempt to sooth the ratepayer by allowing 2 members. What would a ratepayer know!
Quick, Lou, tell me what you do to keep your energy bill that low!
I have been a strong voice in regards to the unsustainable water & waste water rates. However to provide you some information as to why, there is a $30,000,000 debt primarily because of the Taj Mahal waste plant that was delayed and a poor decision. And who puts a waste plant on top of a hill so you have massive energy costs pumping waste. My bill is huge for water that I will not drink but it is not twice my energy bill “yet”.
maybe we should bring a few buckets over there. to catch some water to use in the house.
with the prices in pIcton . People hardly can afford to flush or turn the taps on
why is water twice my hydro
