Enbridge Gas is helping Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue purchase firefighting training materials, through a program with the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council, in the communities where Enbridge operates.
“Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Enbridge Gas–it’s one of our core values we live by,” said Mike Cooney, Supervisor – Operations, Enbridge Gas. “We’re proud to support Ontario firefighters with emergency response training that helps them strengthen their skills, stay prepared, and continue protecting the vibrant communities they serve.”
This year, $125,000 from Enbridge Gas will be shared by 25 Ontario fire departments, including Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue. Funds are used to purchase educational materials to assist in training firefighters in life-saving techniques.
Since the launch of the Safe Community Project Assist in 2012, 394 grants have been provided to Ontario fire departments for additional firefighter training.
“This grant has helped equip our training department to purchase the newest edition of firefighter training materials,” said Tim Kraemer, the County’s Interim Fire Chief. “In high-risk professions, quality training isn’t just about skill development—it’s about ensuring our people return home safely at the end of every shift.
“We’re deeply grateful for this support, which will enable us to provide our firefighters with the training and resources needed to navigate complex, dangerous situations with confidence. This funding demonstrates a shared commitment to protecting those who put themselves at risk in service of our community, and we appreciate the support from both Enbridge and the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council.”
