The music outside of the Picton Public Library will be classic this Saturday as three rising classical music stars will be busking on the Main Street.
Between 1-2:30 p.m. enjoy free performances by Lucas Grant, Nicholas Grant and Phillip Savic.
The Grants, of Belleville, are accomplished young musicians who play violin in the Kingston Youth Orchestra. Lucas also plays clarinet, his main instrument, at the Grade 10 level. Savic, also of Belleville, has competed in local music festivals and went to Provincials this summer in Waterloo. He recently received his Grade 9 piano certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
For the Picton Main Street busking event, Phillip, Lucas, and Nicholas are preparing some trios (two violins and piano) for crowd favourites like Brahms’ Hungarian Dance and Pachelbel’s Canon in D. Nicholas and Lucas will also play a few violin duets. Lucas will perform several solo clarinet pieces and Phillip will play from his extensive repertoire.
They are part of the Prince Edward County Music Festival event and are sponsored by the Picton BIA and hosted by the Picton Public Library. For more on this year’s Festival, Sept. 16-24, visit: http://www.pecmusicfestival.com/
