UPDATE: Forecasted heavy rain over the next week has forced a delay in some of the scheduled work.
- Some construction will still begin on Wednesday, April 19. However, the majority of work will be delayed until the weather forecast improves.
On Tuesday, April 18th, crews from Taggart Construction will return to complete remaining elements of the Picton Main Street Construction project.
Some disruption to vehicle and pedestrian traffic along Picton Main Street is expected from Tuesday, April 18th to about May 12. Some asphalt repairs will follow later in the spring.
Crews will be pouring concrete crosswalks at two locations – near Main Street’s intersections with Elizabeth and Ross Streets. Traffic at these two locations will be reduced to one lane for the duration of construction. Temporary signals will be installed to direct traffic and vehicles on adjacent side streets will be limited to turning in one direction onto Main Street. This work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks.
The installation of some decorative elements and replacement of some poured sidewalk will also cause some disruption to pedestrian traffic and the availability of parking spots along Main Street.
Access to businesses on Main Street will be maintained at all times.
