Free parking downtown Picton begins Monday, but the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation hopes shoppers will continue to feed the meters to help feed local children.
“Feed The Meter is a fundraising initiative in support of the Hastings & Prince Edward Learning Foundation,” said Roni Summers Wickens, Picton BIA executive director. “The Learning Foundation supports student nutrition programs (breakfast, lunch, and snack clubs) at area schools.
The foundation will place signs along each of the meters inviting participants to make a voluntary contribution in lieu of two hours free parking, which has traditionally been provided courtesy of the merchants of downtown Picton through the Picton BIA.
