Festival of Trees raises $40,000 for cardiac equipment at Picton hospital

Trees-MuseumsPeople who bid on 174 trees, purchased baked goods, bucket draw tickets and items from the Second Time Around Shop Boutique helped the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary raise more than $40,000 toward the purchase of new cardiac monitoring equipment for Picton hospital.

“Once again this year, the County Festival of Trees, held at Isaiah Tubbs Resort from Nov. 22-24, was a great success,” said Dorothy Vincent Speirs, Auxiliary communications.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the festival, and the sixth year sponsored by the auxiliary.

“Organizers of the festival, under the leadership of the Auxiliary’s Director of Fundraising Projects, Art Hewer, have worked hard to make this event an important County tradition, and to ensure that it remains a family-oriented event, with fun and activities for everyone,” said Speirs.

“The Auxiliary is indebted to many people who have worked cheerfully and tirelessly to make the festival a very special event: our sponsors and donors, the festival committee, our volunteers and friends who worked so hard, the bakers who filled up the bake tables, the boutique sales staff, and the many musicians who freely gave of their time and talent.

“Isaiah Tubbs Resort donated a beautiful space for our event, and the sstaff helped to create a warm Christmas atmosphere. Many thanks to Santa, who took time out of his busy schedule to visit with more than 100 children. Thanks also to Home Hardware and to Quinte Health Care for their support.

And last, but by no means least, thanks to our many visitors to the Festival who bid so generously on the 174 decorated trees, purchased baked goods, bucket draw tickets and items from the Second Time Around Shop Boutique.”
