Picton Main is open!

As of earlier this afternoon, Picton Main Street has been re-opened to vehicle traffic.

With the exception of a brief closure on Sunday, November 27th for the Picton Santa Claus Parade, the street will remain open to traffic. The closure is expected to begin around 12 PM on Sunday and last until approximately 2 PM.

The municipality, in conjunction with the Picton BIA, will be holding a symbolic ribbon cutting ceremony at 12 PM on Sunday to celebrate the opening of Picton Main Street; the Santa Claus Parade will follow shortly thereafter.

Some sidewalks remain to be completed near the west end of the construction zone. Taggart Construction will be completing these sidewalks over the next two weeks. There should be no resulting disruption to vehicle traffic.

Some trees along the roadway require trimming; a landscaper will be onsite in the near future to trim low hanging branches that could impact pedestrians.

Taggart Construction will be returning for a brief period in the early Spring to complete the installation of two crosswalks on Picton Main Street. More information on this work will be provided once a precise date and details have been determined.
