Picton Firefighters’ Association president, Brendan Bellchamber presented $1,000 to Picton Salvation Army Lieutenant Joe Ludlow during Tuesday night’s regular meeting. The funds come from various fundraising projects the Picton Firefighters’ Association undertakes throughout the year, including Christmas tree sales.
“Firefighters appreciate the support received from the Salvation Army, in particular when food and drinks are provided at lengthy fire calls,” said David Fox, treasurer of the Picton Firefighters’ Association. “The Salvation Army is always ready to support families who face challenges, and this donation will go toward family services.”
Established in the late 1950s, the Picton Firefighters Association is an organization made up of 30 full-time and volunteer firefighters working out of Station 1 in Picton.
The Ludlows have announced they are moving to Suncoast Citadel in Goderich after five years serving in Picton.
“We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve in this community. We could not have asked for a better first appointment. It is difficult to leave so many wonderful people we have met and journeyed with over these years.”
