Community Care for Seniors foot care clinics

Seniors are invited to take a healthy step in the direction of comfort  with Community Care for Seniors’ foot care clinics.

“They’re professional and they want to help you,” says a long-time client of the foot care clinic.

Registered nurses visit with seniors at a clinic in Rossmore, Picton and Wellington.

“Careful and regular care of the feet is essential as people age.  It can become harder to reach one’s feet, the correct tools might not be readily available, and toenails can become thicker and tougher to handle,” notes Debbie MacDonald Moynes, Community Care’s executive director.

Each appointment at the foot care clinic is a half hour duration in a confidential setting with a registered nurse who has specialized training in foot care.  All tools are sterilized and then autoclaved.  Most people return every six weeks for maintenance foot care.
Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors has been supporting seniors to live independently at home for 38 years.  Services include hot and frozen Meals on Wheels, transportation to medical appointments and shopping, noon-time dinners for seniors, help with forms, reassurance programs, homemaking, yard work,  home maintenance and social/recreational activities.  The agency is partly funded by the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care through the Local Health Integration Network and supported by donations and community fundraising efforts.  Community Care volunteers also operate a Thrift Shop at 153 Main Street in Picton.
