Foster families enjoy great day at the beach

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a Foster Parent’s barbecue at the Sandbanks on a beautiful sunny day.
There were about 40 people there including foster parents and children along with some of the staff and board members.
As it was a very hot day, many of the families took advantage of the beach and water. Resource Manager Stepanie Wilson told me the CAS holds three foster parent appreciation events each year. In a community that helps each other, Anderson Farms very generously donated hamburgers and hot dogs for the barbecue.
CAS staff Liz, Stepanie, Melissa, Laurie and Brenna all helped to organize this fun day for the families. Laurie, aka “The Domestic Diva” made five delicious salads that were thorougly enjoyed by all.
In short, this was a team effort to organize a very enjoyable day for the children and their foster parents. I came away that day all the richer because I had met and visited with some of the foster parents and children and at the same time made some new friends.
It was great day!
