Holiday shopping and travel plans may be on ice this weekend as two storms threaten to impact southern Ontario.
Environment Canada issued a warning calling for periods of freezing rain mixed with ice pellets Thursday night into Friday morning. The forecast specifically for Picton calls for light snow until Friday morning with ice pellets arriving Friday afternoon and continuing overnight and changing to freezing rain by Sunday. Predictions call for close to 1 mm of rain from Thursday overnight to Saturday morning, 5-10 cm of snow from Thursday overnight to Saturday morning.
Poor travel conditions are expected all weekend.
Environment Canada is watching a second stronger system that could bring an ice storm to late Saturday into Sunday morning for much of southern Ontario.
