From black out to snow white

Prince Edward County residents spent Tuesday evening in blackness and woke up to the whiteness of a first snowfall.
Ontario Hydro reported power went out for about 9,000 customers at about 8 p.m. and was returned to service by about 12:30 a.m. Meanwhile, a wintery mix of freezing rain and snow created slippery roads for Wednesday morning’s commute. Prince Edward County Roads Department crews are all over the County this morning spreading sand in icy areas. There have been a few reports of cars and trucks that have slid into ditches. Some school buses were delayed and a few were cancelled in the more northern parts of the Hastings and Prince Edward County school board district.
The temperature is to reach 4C by this afternoon. Conditions will continue to clear as Environment Canada predicts temperatures will climb into the double digits heading into the weekend.
