What’s better than a cookie that tastes good? A cookie that does good!

Tim Hortons is bringing more smiles to Prince Edward County residents with the kickoff of the annual Smile Cookie campaign.

For one week starting Monday, May 1, Tim Hortons’ guests can purchase a freshly baked chocolate chunk Smile Cookie for $1.50 in Picton and Wellington and store owner, Paul Massey is donating 100 per cent of proceeds to support Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Back the Build campaign for its new hospital. The fundraiser runs from May 1 to May 7.

“The Smile Cookie campaign has continuously been successful year after year thanks to our loyal guests for their kindness and support,” said Massey. “We have been honoured to support Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation for 10 years, while sharing smiles with all of our dedicated guests at the same time. Stop by our restaurant next week and purchase your freshly baked Smile Cookie and support a great cause – equipping our new County hospital!”

The hospital foundation is raising $6M over the next four years to equip Prince Edward County’s new hospital with major medical equipment devices like a CT Scanner, Digital Mammography Equipment, and a new Digital Radiography Machine. Funds raised will also support environmental sustainability enhancements and smart technology initiatives.

“Smile Cookies – the cookie that makes an impact! We are thrilled to have been selected as the recipient of this wonderful event again this year,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “Since partnering with Tim Hortons, the local Smile Cookie program has raised in excess of $66,000 for priority medical equipment needs for our current hospital.

“We hope our community will see this special fundraising week at Tim Hortons as another positive sign that we are all committed to building a vibrant future for Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and keeping care, close to home.”

The Smile Cookie campaign started in 1996 to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario and has grown to become a major fundraising event at Tim Hortons restaurants across the country.
