Supporters of the second annual ‘Teeing Up Fore Health Care’ golf classic held June 14 scored a hole-in-one raising more than $30,538.34 for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation

Realtors at RE/MAX Quinte Ltd. in Prince Edward County teed up their support to improve the care patients receive at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital by directing proceeds from the tournament toward the Hospital Foundation’s current LIFE SAVER II Campaign for medical equipment, specifically for a replacement colonoscope at a cost of almost $30,000 for the County hospital’s endoscopy department.

The inaugural tournament in 2015 netted over $23,000 for an ECG Machine at PECMH. This year’s achievement brings the two-year total raised through RE/MAX’s efforts to just over $53,000, which will bring the mercury in the thermometer outside the Lake Street office to $160,000. RE/MAX has committed to raising $250,000 for medical equipment needs at at PECMH.

Twenty foursomes teed off under sunny skies to enjoy 18 holes on the picturesque course at the Picton Golf and Country Club, a Par 72 course.

“The Teeing Up Fore Health Care committee is grateful for the tremendous support from the community. To achieve a net of $30,000 in the second year of this event is truly outstanding,” said Penny Rolinski, executive director of the Hospital Foundation. “Kudos to all. Again, we were blessed with approximately 40 local businesses who came on board as hole sponsors, thus showing their support for PECMH.”

Picton Home Hardware and Building Centre donated the prizes for the hole activities and top foursome. The winners of the various activities throughout the day were as follows:

Longest Drive Competition:
Male = Terry Greer, Female = Wendy Salt

Closest to the Pin:
Male = Bruce Reddick, Female = Brenda Hartwig

Winning foursome: Brett Hele, Graham Cobb, Tim Mitchell and Dwayne Isenor at 11 under par.

The grand prize draw for an overnight stay and play golf package donated by the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata valued at $550 was awarded to Darrin Colp. A CIBC golf bag was auctioned for $150 and was presented to Brett Hele. An auction for a prize pack donated by Correen Reynolds, CIBC Mobile Investment Consultant was held and Curt Conder was the successful bidder at $360.

Planning for next year’s tournament is already under way. The date for next year’s golf classic is Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
