A seller’s market situation continues as the real estate market opens a new year of statistics.
Dollar sales for homes are up 6.5 per cent over last year, but the number of houses for sale is down 20 per cent from a year ago.
Cathy Polan, president of the Quinte and District Association of Realtors, said last month, 142 homes were sold in the region – up from 132 homes sold this month in 2015. However, there were just 980 listings, compared to 1,217 in 2015.
“Our market continues to be very active due to the fact that we have been experiencing excellent weather,” said Polan. “Interest rates continue to be low nad buyers very active.”
