Ontario Green Party leader Mike Schreiner, will make a stop in Picton today to greet party faithful and friends. He is among more than 400 people embarking on the 12th annual 660km Friends For Life Bike Rally, supporting the Toronto People with AIDS Foundation. Schreiner is taking part in the rally leg from Cobourg to Adolphustown today.
There are more than 18,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in Toronto, approximately one quarter of Canada’s HIV-positive population. The foundation provides practical information and support services, such as a food bank, health promotion, and treatment programs. The Friends For Life Bike Rally supports PWA and helps to raise over half of its annual operating budget.
The journey from Toronto to Montreal features skilled riders and beginners – from the ages of 18 to 70 – joined in their passion to support friends and loved ones.
The public is welcome to meet Schreiner from 6-9 p.m. at 392 County Road 7, Picton (across from the old school) for a barbecue and idea exchange on the Green Energy Act, municipal government, sustainable agriculture, wellness and more.
