Heat relief at the beach

The beach was clear of heavy crowds and the early evening breezes were welcome after another hot, humid day. Thursday is expected to be another hot one, feeling like 31C, followed by a super scorcher Friday feeling like 37C. There’s no letting up for Saturday as it will still feel like 33C but a slight cooling may come with isolated showers. Sunday’s forecast is sunny and 25C.

If you don’t have air conditioning or good fans, find places to be cool, stay hydrated and and watch out for the most vulnerable — children, elderly and pets. Symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke include dizziness, feeling weak, feeling hot.  Keep an eye on elderly neighbors who may need a hand opening windows or getting a fan running.

And in the mean time, remember the library is air-conditioned and so is the Regent Theatre!
