The spirit of giving is flourishing amongst members of the Prince Edward County Horticultural Society as they presented the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF) with $1,000 this week.
The funds were raised during the society’s 2023 Garden Tour held June 11 as 14 gardens were showcased throughout The County. Just over 100 attendees wishing to view the gardens paid $10 for access to this year’s tour guide.
“The PEC Horticultural Society has deep roots within the community,” said Nancy Parks, Back the Build campaign chairperson. “Established in 1875, the members have worked hard to create outdoor spaces that bring people together. Their commitment to improving the overall health and well-being of this community through projects like the garden tour is one of the reasons Prince Edward County is such a beautiful place to live and visit.”
The society is a not-for-profit branch of the Ontario Horticultural Society.
“Our group feels blessed to be able to make this donation that helps make our new hospital a reality, and brings our love of nature to our community,” said Lise Bois, co-chairperson. “We would like to thank everyone who enjoyed such a beautiful day in our gardens and to those members who opened up their gardens to the public.”
