Hospital foundation supports redevelopment at Picton

Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board representatives recently met with representatives of the Prince Edward Health Alliance and with the Leadership of QHC to express support for the redevelopment of the Picton hospital.

“The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital is the focal point for County health care and the redevelopment plan will maximize the health care resources available to the people of the County and create seamless access to all resources available through the Quinte Health Care system,” said board chair Don Stanton, adding that the board is excited by the opportunity to be part of the plan, “I know I speak for the thousands of donors to our foundation when I pledge our support.”

The foundation board reaffirmed its commitment to the redevelopment of the PECMH at a June meeting and is currently working on a new strategic plan.
“A project of this magnitude will be a challenge but one that the foundation welcomes,” said Stanton. “The people of Prince Edward County will ultimately make this plan work. We are fiercely proud of our health care team and our community. We know that when the time comes the community will answer the bell.

“It is too early to talk about numbers or campaigns but the foundation will be working to keep the community informed as the plan develops. There has been uncertainty in the past few years but that is over,” said Stanton. “This plan has universal support. The Prince Edward Health Alliance has taken a leadership role, the planning process is funded by the Ministry of Health, both Quinte Health Care CEO, Mary Clare Egberts and Board Chair, Brian Smith have given their enthusiastic support.  It is our time. Our voices have been heard. The community has to get behind this plan and do all we can to make it a reality.”
