Hospital, Hospice receive grants from estate art auction event

The Jack and Ruby Lockyer Ward Fund made two grant presentations this week – the first from more than $70,700 earned at an estate art auction in June.
The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation and Hospice Prince Edward Foundation each received $17, 682 on Tuesday.
Proceeds the art auction of original works are expected to benefit the community over the next decade. Live and silent auctions of about 150 pieces of art collected over several decades by Jack and Ruby Lockyer Ward, raised $70,731.34 at the auction in June.
The Lockyers were life-long County residents, well-known for their involvement in community activities.
In 2014, the Ward family established the fund with the County Community Foundation.
At the presentation to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation, were: Carol Penhale, board member of the County Community Foundation; Steven Ward, of the Jack and Ruby Lockyer Ward Fund; Sandra Foreman, board member; Paul Gallagher, hospital board treasurer; Sue Law, hospital board member; Leo Finnegan, Hospital Foundation Chair and Lillian Duffy, board member.
At the presentation to the Hospice Prince Edward Foundation were: Stephanie MacLaren, Interim Executive Director, Hospice Prince Edward; Steven Ward, Jack and Ruby Lockyer Ward Fund and Carol Penhale, board member, County Community Foundation.
