Ice rink, walking track to reopen in Wellington

County staff are preparing to install the ice at the Wellington and District Community Centre for figure skating, hockey, and public skating.

The ice is expected to be ready for use Thursday, Oct. 1. Public skating will follow in early October. The walking track will also reopen Oct. 1.

The ice season for the Huff Estates Arena in Picton will be determined at a later date, based on demand.

Additional health and safety protocols are to be in place at the community centre to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Measures include capacity limits in accordance with the provincial reopening framework, increased cleaning and sanitization.

The annual ice allocation meeting is to take place Thursday, Sept. 10 online via Zoom software. Past user groups will be contacted with meeting details and information about the user rental contract with COVID-19 protocols they will need to follow. People interested in participating in the meeting, are to contact Darlene Dulmage, Recreation and Community Facilities Co-ordinator, at 613.476.2148 extension 5004 or email ddulmage@pecounty.on.ca.

Questions about the reopening should go to Lisa Lindsay, Director of Recreation and Community Facilities, at 613.476.2148 extension 5001 or email llindsay@pecounty.on.ca.
