The public may notice an increase in military personnel and vehcile traffic around the region for the rest of the month.
8 Wing Canadian Forces Base Trenton will be hosting Exercise Ardent Defender – the annual Explosive Ordnance Disposal / Improvised Explosive Devise Disposal exercise that tests the skills of operators and strengthens work with allies and civilian law enforcement and security agency EOD/IEDD teams.
Skilled forces members detect, disable and exploit explosives devices on international deployments and, if called upon by civilian authorities at home.
During the afternoons, those passing active exercise areas may hear brief shotgun-like sounds as participants conduct training scenarios.
The base notes comprehensive safety precautions will be in place during all phases of exercise play and high-visibility warning signs will be placed near active exercise areas signaling potential hazards.
