Kathy Kennedy is the new executive director of the Prince Edward Learning Centre following the retirement last month of Linda Conley.
The learning centre, located in the Armoury Mall downtown Picton, helps adults find the learning tools they need for success – including earning high school credit courses, employment training, learning to read, math, computer basics, job training and preparation courses.
Kennedy is well known within the community, most recently as executive director with Taste the County.
Kennedy comes to the position with more than 25 years of experience providing leadership for community development initiatives and 15 years as a business owner in the County.
Overseeing the organization, Kennedy will ensure PELC follows the directions of the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities and completes evaluations and assessments. She meets clients and helps to point them in the right direction (GED, prep class, Loyola Learning Centre). She will also spend time in the community speaking with various groups about PELC.
Conley retired in May, having led the centre since 1995.
