Keep Kids Warm program registration now open

The Prince Edward County OPP is continuing its support of the annual Adopt-A-Child Keep Kids Warm Program, a community partnership dedicated to providing new winter clothing for local children.

“Every child deserves to be warm this winter. Through the continued support of our community partners and volunteers, this program helps ensure local children have the winter clothing they need to stay safe, comfortable, and ready to enjoy the season,” said Const. Alexandre Lebel, community engagement/media officer.

The program supports working families and those in need of assistance by providing children 12 years of age and under with new winter outerwear, including snowsuits and boots.

The Prince Edward County OPP, volunteers, and neighbouring police detachments support working families and those in need of assistance to purchase new winter clothing for children – typically assisting about 1,500 area children from newborn to 12 years of age. Partners include Quinte Broadcasting, Belleville Police Service, the Township of Stirling Rawdon, Marmora and Lake, Centre Hastings OPP and Prince Edward OPP.

Online registration is available from Sept. 14 to Sept. 28, 2026. Residents may also register in person at the Prince Edward County OPP Detachment, 569 County Road 1, Picton Monday to Friday, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Applicants should bring identification for the custodial parent or guardian and child.

Winter clothing pick-up is to take place at the Prince Edward County OPP Detachment on Nov. 3 and 4 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
