Keep Kids Warm winter coat program registration now open

The OPP Keep Kids Warm program provides jackets, snow pants, boots, hats and mittens to children in Prince Edward County this year.  Cheering community support of the campaign as they readied the bags of warmth last year, from left, were: volunteers Fern Gray and Tara Guscott, the detachment’s new community officer, Const. Aaron Miller, program organizer Barb Sills, supporter Jamie Yeo, and detachment commander John Hatch.

The annual Keep Kids Warm winter coat campaign is now receiving registrations.

Last year, the project out more than 100 Prince Edward County children.

The Adopt-A-Child / Keep Kids Warm Winter Coat Program is a joint partnership with the Prince Edward County OPP detachment, Belleville Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police Central Hastings and Quinte Broadcasting.

The program supports working families and those in need of assistance by providing children 12 years of age and under with new, warm winter outer wear (snowsuits and boots).

Registration continues Monday to Friday until Sept. 30 at the ROC Youth Centre, 299 Main Street in Picton, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

There are other registration locations at the Belleville Police Service, as well as in Stirling-Rawdon, Marmora and Centre Hastings. Details can be found at https://www.keepkidswarm.ca/.

Applicants should bring proper ID for custodial parent or guardian and child.
