CHEERS! from the Picton Kinettes, who have honoured Peggy DeRoche with a Life Membership award.

DeRoche has been a valued member of the Picton Kinettes for the past 30 years. The Life Membership Award is the highest award any Kin member can receive at a club level.

“As a club we wanted to honour Peggy for all she has given to us and most of all our community for the last 30 years,” notes Kinette vice-president Susan Eastbury. “Peggy has held most of the executive positions in the club and has been to several national and district conventions over the years. Most of all Peggy has been a valuable member of our community and helped out at most fund raisers while holding down two jobs.”

At the recent  Loonie Auction, the Kinettes raised close to $6,000. Assorted pies and muffins were auctioned off separately to raiser money for the Picton United Church. In the 10 minutes it took to auction off the baked items, the Kinettes raised $485 for the church.

Earlier this month, at the Picton Kinette annual bridge game, members presented the funds to Rev. Phil Hobbs. At the presentation were: Bette MacDonald, Rev. Phil Hobbs, Kerry Reynolds, Jean Thompson, Gayle Osborne, Susan Eastbury, Judy McNamee, Dorothy Benbow, Catherine McGinnis, Sharon Crowe, Diane Torney, Joan VanDenOetelaar, and Marg Mowat.
