Long-lost sunshine makes triumphant return

Sunshine returned to the County in full force Sunday – creating an odd feeling of springtime in February – as the temperature hovered around 3C . Canoeists were spotted enjoying a paddle in Lake Ontario; trails at Sandbanks were busy with people and dogs.

Environment Canada reports January was one of the cloudiest in more than a decade at 26 days of gloom. But have your sunglasses at the ready as the sunshine is forecast to stay a few days this week with temperatures of between 2C and 4C expected, ending with a chance of rain on 6C days as the weekend arrives. Overnight temperatures are to remain chilly this week from -5 to -10 before warming to above zero toward week’s end.
