Friends set up fund to help family following fatal fire

UPDATE – A 25-year-old was found deceased at the scene of Saturday’s fire at a Main Street Picton home. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Prince Edward OPP report confirmed three of the home’s occupant’s made it out of the home safely and were transported to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The Office of the Fire Marshall and the OPP are continuing their investigations into the blaze. A Post Mortem examination was scheduled for Monday, March 14th at 9:30 am at the Ottawa Hospital.
UPDATE: Official word on the victims of the fire has not been made, but a ‘Go Fund Me’ online account has been set up by a friend of the Walker/Dubois family to assist Emily Walker, 16, her mother Juanita Dubois, 51 and brother Nick Dubois, 21. The post, created by Abby Dunnett, notes brother Zachary Dubois, 25, died.
Prince Edward County firefighters are battling extreme heat and thick smoke as they continue to extinguish a fire at a home on Main Street, Picton this afternoon.
They were called to the scene at around 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Police and ambulance personnel are also on site.
Four people have been transported to hospital.
Picton’s Main Street remains closed in the area of Whattam Funeral Home.
