Main Street Picton made Santa’s nice list

Prince Edward County officials, the construction team and BIA all made Santa’s good list having Picton’s Main Street officially opened on Saturday in time for the annual Christmas parade. Santa was no doubt also pleased with perfect weather for all three of his visits to the County this weekend – at the Festival of Trees and both Bloomfield’s and Picton’s parades.
Picton Main’s $4.4 million project (including $2 million from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund) began in April but took a break over the summer tourist season. Work included replacing 60-year-old infrastructure, new sidewalks, fibre network cables, new streetlights and landscaping though some finishing work remains on the streets and sidewalks.
In celebration of the completion of the project the BIA, County and Taggart Construction teamed up during Picton’s parade to distribute 400 $10 gift certificates provided by the municipality and Taggart.
