A 31-year-old Kingston man has been charged with arson in connection with a house fire near Wellington.
The March 26 evening blaze caused about $100,000 damage to an older farm house on the Loyalist Parkway.
Bancroft OPP charged the man, following an investigation from an unwanted person complaint the next morning, to a house in L’Amable, where a family member had suffered non life-threatening injuries. The male would not leave the residence and started to barricade himself inside. The OPP Emergency Response Team and the Tactics and Rescue Unit were called in, and the man was arrested.
The 31-year-old, whose name was not released, was charged with arson – damage to property in relation to the Wellington-area fire, and two counts of assault with a weapon.
He is to appear in Belleville court at a later date.
