A young man who rolled, or crawled, in cow manure while trying to evade police was sniffed out by the canine unit early Friday morning.
Just after 1 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, Prince Edward OPP officers received a report of a grey hatchback type vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of Bond Road and Maypul Layn Road in South Marysburgh. A second complaint was received by OPP regarding a male who went to a nearby residence asking for assistance and was now hiding in the bushes nearby.
Community Safety Officer Karen German said the OPP Emergency Response Team and Canine responded to the scene to assist as the male had fled further into the bush and through a cow pasture.
Meanwhile, she notes police received a third call in the area of a suspicious person on a front porch at a County Road 13 address.
“The person matched the description of the male hiding in the bushes. A suspect was located and arrested. It was determined he had rolled or crawled into cow manure while trying to evade police.”
A 23-year-old Prince Edward County, Ontario man has been charged with several Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences including Failure or refusal to comply with demand; Failure to stop after accident; Operation while Prohibited; Driving while under suspension – while suspended under HTA; Fail to report accident; Driver motor vehicle, no currently validated permit and Fail to remain.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019. The vehicle has been impounded for 45 days.

Curious about car impounded for 45 days as I thought it was usually 7 but with his charges it may be a moot point?
He certainly made things easy for the canine unit!
