Prince Edward OPP have laid manslaughter and trafficking charges in connection to the death in March of a 34-year-old Picton man.
On March 11, the Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services responded to a home on Loyalist Parkway in Hallowell, where the victim was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
Following a police investigation, a 33-year-old Picton man has been arrested and charged with trafficking an opioid.
“Post mortem examination confirmed Travis Rosseau died from the presence of lethal levels of an opioid in his body, specifically Carfentanil, which is a highly concentrated and dangerous form of Fentanyl,” said Bill Dickson, an OPP media relations co-ordinator.
The Picton man was arrested and charged with manslaughter Thursday, July 11. He is to appear in Belleville court Friday.
Dickson said the maximum penalty on conviction for manslaughter is life in prison.
