With a focus on educating and promoting gardening, the Prince Edward County Master Gardeners is working with young and older groups throughout the County this year.
At its recent meeting, the group elected Ren Duinker as co-ordinator for its new executive, along with Kim Beaugrand as secretary and Susan Warrack as treasurer.
“We are looking forward to getting our exciting news out to the people of the County,” said Duinker.
The Master Gardeners will host Children’s Garden awards presentation Saturday, Oct. 6th at 10:30 am at the Picton Library.
“The children have worked very hard all summer and they’ve created some very impressive gardens,” said Duinker. “The participants represent all corners of The County and we will be acknowledging their achievements.”
Joyce Young, at 90-years-old, is the club’s most senior member and is to be presenting prizes to the exceptional young gardeners.
New projects on the go also include an initiative with the Community Care for Seniors County Seniors Centre.
“Master Gardeners also plan to be out in the community throughout the year talking about gardening, giving presentations and answering gardening questions,” said Duinker.
