The number of real estate sales were up for May in the Quinte area over last year, though sellers found the average residential sale price was the same as last year.
There were 382 overall units sold in the Quinte area in May, compared to 359 sold for the same month last year.
Quinte and District Association of Realtors president Michelle Norlock reports the residential portion of the sold units was 337 for 2014 and 303 for 2013, reflecting an increase of 11.2 per cent. The average residential sale price in 2014 was the same as 2013, coming in at $226,343.
She noted the month of May also shows an increase in new residential listings with 706 in 2014 (651 in 2013).
“When combined with the sales for the month, it would indicate the spring market is off to a strong start,” she said.
