Mayor encourages County residents to give the best gift they can give

The first few snowstorms of the year often result in numerous accounts of accident victims – some of those people will require blood.

Prince Edward County Mayor Robert Quaiff will join Canadian Blood Services at the Picton Blood Donor Clinic Monday, Dec. 12 to thank donors, and remind people to take the time to give life by donating blood this holiday season.

He hopes to encourage Prince Edward County residents to make an appointment to give blood and sway potential new donors to help fill the 68 open appointments at the clinic currently available.

“Collecting blood during the holidays can be challenging because many donors are away or busy with family activities,” said Debbi Barfoot, of Canadian Blood Services. “Events are being held in communities across the country in December to inspire eligible Canadians to give a gift that can’t be bought.”

Monday’s clinic is at the Prince Edward County Community Centre, 375 Main Street, Picton from 2-8 p.m.
