Mild weather will come to an end as winter cold and wind returns. Wind gusts could reach 100 km/h in Picton and the Sandbanks Park areas. Environment Canada issued a warning for strong, damaging winds Sunday, overnight and Monday morning. Falling temperatures in the wake of the system will create favourable conditions for snow squalls though less than 5cm of snow is expected for Prince Edward County. Sunday evening’s 4C temperature is to fall to -1C with winds at about 50km/h.
Environment Canada reports the strongest winds will be overnight into Monday morning.
“These winds will be strong enough to bring down tree limbs and may cause some damage to buildings in exposed areas. Motorists should exercise caution as the very strong and gusty winds will make driving conditions difficult.”
