Mill Street Hill a thrill for soapbox racers

Family, friends and fans gathered at Bloomfield’s Mill Street Hill on Saturday for the annual Soapbox Derby.
Bloomfield Hallowell Recreation hosted the morning’s races for more than a dozen challengers. For some, it was a first time on the hill. For others, it was a return visit. Long-time racers Amber and Maddy now attend as volunteers helping to keep racers’ times.
All the participants received a medallion and an ice cream cone. Trophies were presented for the first, second and third place finishers. While there are cars available for racers to borrow – such as two from Home Hardware – there are also extra trophies for the most original car, or interesting car.
