The Heal With Horses Equine Therapy Farm in Prince Edward County gave the children at the RecPlex Kidz Camp a special treat this month when they brought Dyson, the mini pot belly pig to visit.

Dyson is a sociable young pig who will be about 40 pounds when full grown. Use to being around people, the pig demonstrated an easy manner with the children, especially if they rubbed his belly.

“We are socializing Dyson and pigs like him to be companion pigs for the children who come to Heal with Horses,” said owner and operator Suzanne Latchford-Kulker.

The friendly pig was fascinating to the children and adults at the Kidz Camp, who found out quickly that the best way to attract Dyson’s attention was to bribe him with food, when he also might perform one of his two tricks.

Suzanne Latchford-Kulker loves horses, nature and helping others, and these passions led her along with her husband Ron to establish their “Heal with Horses Therapeutic Centre” in 2009. The centre is located on Danforth Road in Hillier, Ontario and has nine therapy horses.

Suzanne is certified in Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning (FEEL) and is a Horse Boy Method Level 1 practitioner.
Heal with Horses Therapeutic Centre utilizes horses, animals and nature in conjunction with professional coaching/facilitation to help improve the lives of adults/juveniles and children suffering from a number of neuropsychiatric and physical limitations, such as, but not limited to: Autism, PTSD, ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and low self-esteem as well as those who want to experience self-discovery/spiritual growth.
