Mmmm Maple in the County

Bright sunshine on a much warmer weekend brought standing room only crowds to most of the Maple in the County events this year.
Family friendly activities were held at seven sugar bush locations throughout the County. Visitors devoured the sweet goodness of maple syrup on pancakes, in s’mores, on popcorn and as lollipops.
In addition, activities were held at 27 additional locations including cooking classes, wine and cider tastings, maple theme dining, farm animals and artisan market.
New this year was a sold-out Sugar Shack Shin Dig at Macaulay Heritage Park in Picton Saturday night with live music from the band Whoa Nelly and a maple-themed dinner prepared by local chef Matthew DeMille.
Hallowell volunteer firefighters and spouses served up hundreds of breakfasts at Honey Wagon Farms. The firefighters also display their trucks and equipment.
And though Maple in the County events have finished for another year, the tastes of the County continue with delicious Countylicious dinners until April 6.
