Ted, Donna and Evan Nash, from Wellington Home Hardware, were awarded the 2013 Outstanding Retailer Award at a conference in Toronto. Ted’s father Tom, who was involved with the store for 45 years, also attended the awards presentation.
Hardlines’ Outstanding Retailer Awards have been recognizing and honouring the best in home improvement retailing across Canada for more than two decades. The Community Leader Award is named in memory of Marc Robichaud, an innovative dealer and leader in his community of Meteghan Centre, Nova Scotia. Marc died in 2012 of cancer at the age of 36.
“We are very proud to receive this recognition. The community has been very supportive of us over the years and in return we try to give back and go the extra mile for them whenever we can,” said Ted Nash, dealer-owner.
Over the past seven years, Home Hardware has received 19 Outstanding Retailing Awards – taking home two awards this year.
Wellington Home Hardware has been in the Nash family since 1905.The store, now in its fifth generation, is a staple in the small community; it is the place where homeowners can find all of their home and building products and where tourists and cottagers stop to pick up forgotten items.
The Nash family embodies the philosophy that business and community are intertwined. The store is one of the key reasons the main street of Wellington continues to thrive.
Wellington Home Hardware Staff are active members of the community and continuously give back through numerous fundraising initiatives ranging from events for the local food bank to promoting the ‘Movember’ cancer drive.
