New roof launches work on Bloomfield Centre for Creativity

Volunteers put a new roof on the former Don Baxter Memorial Building on Stanley Street in Bloomfield last week as part of its metamorphosis into the new Bloomfield Centre for Creativity (formerly known as the County Arts Factory). The not-for-profit organization aims to create a space for a full range of artistic activities for children of all ages.
The building was the cafeteria for the Baxter Canning Company, located across the street, known for canning some of the Country’s best produce. The County declared the building surplus and a group of local businesses and individuals is setting out to rescue, renovate and preserve the building. – Marianne Gallagher photo
