Nippy dip in the water at Wellington

The County’s John Ferguson captured these photographs of a pair swimming off Wellington Beach just before Christmas. He notes it was 3C and very windy. While some tout the benefits of regular swimming in cold water, immersion can be dangerous – including sudden heart attack, hypothermia and drowning. Any water temperature below 70 degrees should be treated with caution for those not wearing a wetsuit or drysuit.
