No snow? no problem for winter carnival in Milford

No snow and mild temperatures put many outdoor activities on ice for Saturday’s Milford Winter Carnival but there was still plenty of fun. Bingo games were played Friday night and Saturday included indoor and outdoor games, crafts and food.

County residents and visitors watched Prince Edward County firefighters demonstrate ice and water rescue techniques under the Millpond bridge.

At the fairgrounds, firefighters also collected donations for the Ryan Clapp and Sherri Clements family to help with financial burdens and funeral expenses from loss of income while Ryan was caring for his wife, before her passing. Here Alex Ingram demonstrates floating in his water-entry suit.

Inside Mt. Tabor, Catherine Reilly demonstrated rag knitting with giant needles. A few South Marysburgh Recreation members came up with the idea and plan to demonstrate at numerous events this year. They’re considering making a gigantic scarf to be used in support of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. Donations of sheets and t-shirts are welcome.

Shannon Helm, Claire and Charlotte Hunter were busily assembling their first sock puppet – complete with curly hair and googly eyes, at one of the craft tables set up inside Mt. Tabor.

Rides through the village of Milford were provided by Blaine Way’s carriage.
