One arrested, one wanted in connection to break in

Prince Edward County OPP have arrested one man and are in search of another following a report of a break and enter.
At 5:30pm, Thursday, Aug. 24, officers were dispatched to a residence on County Road 17, south of the town of Picton. A white van was observed leaving the scene. A second call was received shortly after about two male suspects that had been rummaging through a vehicle at a residence on Cty Road 8. The suspects were driving a white van.
Responding officers observed the vehicle a brief time later. Officers initiated a vehicle stop but the driver refused to pull over. A short distance later, the vehicle stopped abruptly and the driver jumped out and ran off. The passenger was apprehended by officers and placed under arrest.
A subsequent search of the area by the OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team was not successful in locating the second suspect.
A 30-year-old man, of no fixed address, was held for a bail hearing, facing criminal charges of break and enter, theft under $5000, two counts of possession stolen property and fail to comply with probation order. His next court appearance is set for Aug. 31.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the second suspect, a 38-year-old Napanee resident, for two counts of theft of motor vehicle and theft under $5000.
