ROMEO presents $11,000 for Wellington & District Community Centre

The Wellington and District Community Centre's new Zamboni, donated by Prinzen Ford, of Bloomfield had its digital vinyl vehicle wrap completed by KA Media's Chris Crawford this week.

The Wellington on the Lake ROMEO (“Retired Old Men Eating Out”) club presents Jim Dunlop, fundraising co-ordinator for the Wellington and District Community Centre, with $11,000 to go toward the sponsorship of 22 seats at the new facility. With private donations, barbecues, social events, a corn roast, bottle drive and craft sale held by a variety of clubs from Wellington on the Lake over the past year, they exceeded their goal of 20 seats.

The construction cost of the new community centre is $12 million dollars. The Federal Government will provide $4 million in funding, the Ontario Government will provide $4 million in funding and the municipality will provide $2.5 million in funding. Together, the community has raised approximately $1,350,000 in donations. With your help the remaining $150,000 goal can be met to rekindle the spirit of previous generations to provide future generations with an active healthy lifestyle.

The new Wellington Community Centre opens it doors November 28 for the Official Opening Ceremonies, a public skate to be held in the afternoon before the first Dukes game that evening.

A fundraising booth will be available during the Ameliasburgh Country Fair being held October 2 and 3 at Ameliasburgh Historical Museum, as well as during Pumpkinfest held in Wellington on October 16.

Be a part of history like those people who are still remembered for their part in the original Wellington Arena. With the opening ceremonies being so close to the holiday season, a donation could be that perfect gift for that person who has everything.
