Peter Tinsley, the Federal Liberal candidate for Prince Edward- Hastings and Lyle Vanclief welcomed Leader of the Official Opposition, Michael Ignatieff and the MP. Marlene Jennings to an Open Mike Town Hall meeting Jan. 17 for residents of Prince Edward-Hastings.
They spent two hours answering a variety of questions from the standing-room-only crowd of more than 300 people at the Greek Community Hall in Belleville.
“It was a breath of fresh air in politics that truly had everyone who approached the mike feeling listened to and that their questions had been answered,” says Doris Lane, of Picton. “Finally, a candidate in the riding who practices what he preaches, being our voice in Ottawa-not Ottawa’s voice in the riding. PM Stephen Harper has never had a town hall meeting. Actions speak louder than words.”
Ignatieff said this was about the 20th such meeting he has held.

Sorry I missed it. I like Michael Ignatieff’s statement that in order to lead, a leader must listen.
I’d be very interested in hearing Mr Tinsley speak, he has an impressive bio. Any chance he might do a meet-&-greet in the County?
I am gland that Michael Ignatieff is not stooping to Harper’s US-style of personal attack ads. I am appalled at how effective those negative ads can be. They can turn people off a good leader and towards someone who is telling you nothing of themselves or their party except that they are bullies. Haven’t we seen enough of that on Parliament hill over the past five years?
I could not have said it better. It was a wonderful experience to see Peter Tinsley and the others on stage inviting the community to ask questions and get answers. It was really impressive.
