OPP investigating alcohol related collisions

Following two alcohol-related incidents on the weekend, Prince Edward OPP are reminding drivers of the importance of calling 911 if they suspect someone is driving impaired.

On Friday, Jan. 17 at 8:25 p.m. officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 22 in Hallowell. The driver was arrested and taken to detachment for testing. A 49-year-old Wellington woman now faces charges related to impaired driving and blood alcohol concentration.

She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday Feb. 12 in Picton. She was also given a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. officers were investigating a motor vehicle collision on County Road 1 in Hallowell. As a result, a 39-year-old male from Consecon had his driving privileges suspended for three days as a result of an “Alert” reading on the screening device.

Report impaired drivers by calling 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or submit a tip online at www.crimestoppersquinte.ca where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
