Attempted murder among charges following stabbing in Picton

OCT. 28 UPDATE: A 20-year-old and a 19-year-old, both from Embrun, who were arrested shortly after a stabbing incident Friday, Oct. 24 in Picton, have been charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose and obstructing justice. In addition, the 20-year-old is also charged with attempted murder.

On Friday, Oct. 24 around 11:15 p.m., Prince Edward OPP responded to a report of an assault with a weapon outside a convenience store on Paul Street.

The victim, a 35-year-old male, was transported to a regional trauma centre with very serious, but non-life-threatening stab wounds. He continues to undergo treatment. During the investigation officers recovered multiple weapons.
The two had been arrested with assistance from the Tyendinaga Police Service.

Both the accused remain in custody and were scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by members of the Prince Edward County OPP, the Prince Edward County Crime Unit, and the OPP Forensic Identification Services.

OPP investigating assault with a weapon, in Picton

OCT. 25: Prince Edward OPP is investigating an incident in Picton that has left one person with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Friday, Oct. 24 at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon outside a convenience store on Paul Street.

The victim was transported to a regional trauma centre for treatment. The injuries were determined to be serious, but non-life-threatening.

Two individuals were arrested in connection with the incident. They remain in custody and are scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by members of the Prince Edward County OPP, the Prince Edward County Crime Unit, and the OPP Forensic Identification Services.
