OPP investigating suspicious incident

UPDATE NOV. 8 – On Nov. 6, the OPP identified the suspicious male. The police investigation revealed there was no criminal act and that the encounter with the youth was a misunderstanding.
The OPP thanks the public for assistance in this investigation.
NOV. 6 – Ontario Provincial Police Prince Edward County detachment is investigating a report of a suspicious male approaching a teenager.
Police have received a report on an incident Thursday, Nov. 5 shortly after 6pm in the vicinity of Main and Consecon streets in Wellington.
“A teenaged male was walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by the suspect, who prevented him from walking by. The youth ran from the suspect who initially followed,” said Anthony Mann, Prince Edward OPP.
Police are looking for a male in his 40s, approximately 5’11 in height. He was reported to be wearing a green coat or rain jacket. He had a large black backpack with a Canadian flag affixed to it.

Prince Edward County OPP would like to thank the public for their help in the investigation into a recent “suspicious person” case in Wellington.
Early Thursday evening, a teenaged male reported a man had blocked his path on a sidewalk in Wellington.
The next day, OPP were able to identify the man and have concluded the incident was all a “misunderstanding” and no charges will be laid.
